Why not write to your business contacts, tell them all about this worthy cause and ask them to sponsor you?
Do you know of any sponsored events coming up? These are always a great way to raise money?
Do you have a birthday or some other special event coming up? If you do, why not ask your family and friends to donate to your fundraising instead of giving you presents.
Are you a golfer? Why not organise a golf classic with friends at your local golf club?
A fun way of collecting money ask your local supermarket if you and some friends can pack bags for them and raise money at the same time.
Could you work with your local pub to organise an event to raise funds?
Perhaps your children / nieces / nephews would adopt you and assist with your fundraising efforts? Cake sales in schools are always a favourite with children!
Why not host a coffee morning or ask somebody to host it on your behalf ?
Shave your head, wax those legs etc. Go on
Im sure your friends would pay up
to see you in pain!!
4000 may sound like a lot to raise but the secret is to break it down into smaller, achievable amounts. For example:
Contact 40 friends, family members and acquaintances and ask for 25 donations = 1000
Organise a pub quiz with 10 teams of four at 10 each to enter = 400
Organise a raffle = 300
Host a coffee morning / wine and cheese evening = 300
Bag packing at your local supermarket = 300
Golf competition 8 teams at 40 each = 320
Novelty Ideas = 180
Ask your employers or suppliers to sponsor you = 1000
2 x Sponsorship Cards = 200
Total = 4000
Make sure that the first sponsor on your form is a generous one!! The first sponsor on the list will act as a guide for everyone else you approach. Always carry a sponsorship card with you so that you are prepared for signing people up. Dont be afraid to ask people if they would mind paying their sponsorship money up front. Finally, remember, dont leave your fundraising to the last minute. You should get moving now so that you have plenty of time to plan your events in advance.
